Job Title: MEP Skilled Trades
Job Summary:
MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) Skilled Trades are professionals who specialize in the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in buildings and construction projects. They play a crucial role in ensuring that these systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with building codes and regulations. MEP Skilled Trades may include HVAC technicians, electricians, plumbers, and other specialized tradespeople who work collaboratively to deliver high-quality MEP services in construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Maintenance:
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems (HVAC)
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems
- Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems
Collaboration and Coordination:
- Collaborate with other tradespeople and construction teams
- Interpret blueprints and technical drawings for MEP installations
- Coordinate MEP installations and services
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure MEP systems meet safety standards and building codes
- Perform preventative maintenance and inspections
- Use specialized tools and equipment safely
Professional Development and Communication:
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in MEP systems
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients
- Provide updates on work progress and resolve issues efficiently
Key Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a technical program or apprenticeship in a relevant trade is preferred.
- Several years of experience in MEP installations, maintenance, or related fields.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Proficiency in installing and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, or plumbing systems.
- Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and safety standards related to MEP systems.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent teamwork and communication abilities.
- Familiarity with tools, equipment, and techniques used in MEP trades.
Certifications (Optional but Preferred):
- Relevant trade certifications (e.g., HVAC Technician, Electrician, Plumber).
- OSHA 10 or 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification.
- Any additional certifications specific to MEP systems or trades.
