Job Title: Project Accountant
Job Summary:
A Project Accountant is responsible for managing the financial aspects of specific projects within an organization. Their key responsibilities include developing and maintaining project budgets, monitoring project costs, expenses, and revenue, preparing financial reports and variance analysis, ensuring compliance with project accounting principles and procedures, collaborating with project managers to track financial performance, assisting in project financial audits, performing cost analysis, and communicating financial updates and recommendations to project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Planning and Budgeting:
- Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and financial plans
- Monitor project costs and expenses to ensure adherence to budget constraints
- Collaborate with project managers to establish financial goals and objectives for projects
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare financial reports, variance analysis, and project performance metrics
- Monitor revenue recognition and project profitability
- Conduct cost analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve project efficiency
Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure compliance with project accounting principles, policies, and procedures
- Assist in project financial audits by providing necessary documentation and support
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records related to project activities
Communication and Collaboration:
- Collaborate with project managers to track project progress and financial performance
- Communicate financial updates and recommendations to project stakeholders
- Work closely with the finance team and other departments to support project financial management requirements
Key Qualifications:
Education and Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA certification or relevant professional qualifications preferred
Experience:
- Experience in project accounting or financial management
- Knowledge of project accounting principles and cost control
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting
- Ability to develop and maintain project budgets and forecasts
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate with project managers and stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for maintaining accurate financial records and documentation.
